Tata Motors might build cars at Cluj – Romania

Tata Motors, the maker of the cheapest car in the world plans to build cars in Jucu, near Cluj-Napoca - Romania, MediaFax reports.




County Council chief Alin Tise declared on Monday that the meeting was focused on several issues but which are confidential.

Tise said however that the company considers a possible investment in the area. He said that other foreign investors expressed their interest for the county.
“I can’t give you any information on the investment value or the number of jobs stipulated,” Alin Tise, chairman of the CJ Cluj, said.
According to him, the investment would be worth “tens of millions of euros.

Last week the company reported a 15.97 per cent increase in total vehicle sales during January to 87,465 units. The company sold 75,423 units in the corresponding month last year, Tata Motors said in a statement.

The carmaker’s exports stood at 7,083 units last month, up 43.15% as against 4,948 units in the same month last year.

Indian Tata group includes over 90 companies in areas such as ICT, engineering, materials, services, energy, consumer products and chemicals, with activities in over 80 countries.
