UK: 133 New Apprentices for Jaguar Land Rover

Jaguar Land Rover wants to recruit 133 apprentices to join the training program this year, more than the 114 from last year.

The apprentice program this year, which coincides with the National Apprentice week, searches for advanced and higher apprentices, and it will be launched on February 6th. This means 109 advanced and 24 higher apprentices that will work for the acquisition of a new series of NVQs and also a degree in a comprehensive training programme available for A-level-qualified candidates.

The 133 apprentices will be based in Halewood, Merseyside, in the West Midlands (Solihull, Castle Bromwich, Wolverhampton, Gaydon and Coventry), and also at the new engine plant the company develops on the Staffordshire-Wolverhampton border.
“JLR is committed to providing the highest quality practical and academic training to develop the future generation of engineering talent needed to drive our business forward,” said Des Thurlby, from JLR.
The advanced apprenticeships scheme starts with a year in college studying for an NVQ3 in a chosen trade pathway, an NVQ3 in a chosen trade pathway, a technical certificate and training in various skills (IT, numeracy and communication).

From here apprentices will fulfill functions in manufacturing and product development. Applications are accepted beginning with February 6th.
