We’re hearing that Land Rover are planning to debut the 2013 Range Rover at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

We’ve had plenty of spy shots of the new Range Rover in the last year as Land Rover work hard to sort out the vital replacement for the now 10 year old Range Rover, and we’ve even had spy video of the new Land Rover halo car at the Nurburgring. Now we’re hearing that Land Rover are planning to debut the new Range Rover at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

The general consensus has been that the new Range Rover wouldn’t get a public debut until the Paris Motor Show in September, but we’ve heard from a normally very reliable source that Land Rover are planning to make the new Range Rover a star at Geneva in just a few weeks.

The new Range Rover will be a huge chunk lighter than the current model – as much as 500kg lighter – and is based on new aluminium underpinnings borrowed from the new Jaguar XJ. Despite the weight loss, the new Range Rover will grow in size to give passengers more room – especially in the back – be far more economical and much more dynamic.

The dynamic bit was illustrated very well back in November when one of our team fell in to conversation with a Land Rover tester who was in Spain shaking down the new Range Rover. In conversation, the Land Rover man said that the key to the new Range Rover would be handling and dynamics, and that they were aiming for Cayenne and X5 levels of on-road manners with the new Range Rover – and that aim would be fulfilled.

If true, that would put the Range Rover a country mile ahead of any competition. The Range Rover is already perhaps the most appealing car money can buy, and if you throw in decent economy, more room and dynamics and performance up there with the Cayenne and X5, Tata will have pulled off an absolute winner.

If news that the 2013 Range Rover will debut at Geneva is true, JLR should take the trophy for star of Geneva, especially as the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake will debut at Geneva too.

Spyshots: 2013 Range Rover Closer to Production

Land Rover is working full throttle to complete the development of the new Range Rover, which should arrive on the market by the end of the current year, with out spy shooters encountering yet another prototype during a winter testing session.

The prototype was wearing heavy camo, as Land Rover plans significant design changes, so all we can see is the fact that the line of the rear will be brought a bit closer to that of the current Range Rover Sport.

The vehicle will share its aluminum platform with the Jaguar XJ, Which means that it will not only be lighter (rumors indicate that it will shed around 400 kg / 882 lbs), but will also allow the designers to make the car a little bit larger.

As for what’s under the hood, the engines will be inherited from the current generation, but the carmaker will also introduce a plug-in hybrid version that will borrow the tech stuff from the Range e concept.

2013 Range Rover Images and Details leaked

The new generation of the Range Rover Vogue has recently leaked in an Italian publication, and the model seems to be inspired by the Evoque.

After what seems to be the upcoming Lamborghini SUV, based on the Aventador, leaked not too long ago in QuattroRoute.it, now another publication, this time Top Gear Italy, the February edition, is bringing us the new generation of the Range Rover Vogue. According to the Top Gear publication, the new Range Rover Vogue will wear the 2013 model year and the crossover will be launched this autumn. Our source is also telling us that the upcoming model is based on the same aluminum platform as the Evoque, which now has a longer wheelbase.

The 2013 Range Rover Vogue will be powered at first by a new turbodiesel V6 engine, which in standard version, will be emitting under 200 g of CO2 per kilometer. We’ve saved the most interesting part for the end of our news, and the February edition of Italy’s Top Gear magazine is telling us that a hybrid version of the new Range Rover Vogue will be offered later. The Range Rover Vogue Hybrid will offer a petrol engine and an electric motor, but figures like its performance remain unknown for now.

Spy Shot: 2013 Range Rover spied doing Winter Testing

The Range Rover may be one of the most luxurious SUVs on the market today, but it’s also one of the most capable in rough terrain or inclement weather. The upcoming fourth-gen model is expected to be just as rugged, especially on snow-filled roads.

That’s exactly where it was recently snapped, which means development and testing should be coming to a close. The current-gen Range Rover has been with us for about a decade now, but most of us agree that it has aged well, at least in the styling department. We don’t expect Land Rover to deviate much from the classic two-box design with sharp lines. Rumor has it borrowing styling cues from the Evoque, its new and sleek smaller brother, which has been widely praised for its good looks. Our photographer even managed to snap some interior shots where hints of the Evoque are definitely evident.

More importantly, big changes are expected underneath the sheet metal, including an intensive diet plan estimated to shave almost 1000 pounds from its current curb weight of 5697 pounds; generous use of aluminum will account for most weight savings. Currently powertrain choices will likely remain the same, including a couple of turbodiesels, and naturally-aspirated and supercharged gasoline V-8s. Also rumored is some sort of hybrid. Expect more details to emerge closer to its launch, which is expected to happen this fall.

Cutting Edge Off-Roading Technology for next Range Rover

• Terrain-i system on new Range Rover

The next Range Rover will have ground-breaking off-road technology when it is launched at the end of 2012.

Called Terrain-i, the tech is a more sophisticated version of the company's Terrain Response system, which is fitted to all models. The new version uses a suite of electronic aids, so that drivers don't need to select which type of electronic off-road assistance is needed – the car 'looks ahead' at the terrain and does it for you.

Also on the new Range Rover will be a Wade Aid device, which uses sonar to measure water depth ahead to ensure that it is safe to traverse. It will also, if required, pre-select the correct speed and gear required to go through the water.

The Terrain-i system also uses cameras to look ahead and assess topography of the environment you are driving in. It decides whether the car is capable of negotiating the terrain and if not, the sat-nav reroutes you.

In time, this technology, or parts of it, will trickle down to other Land Rover models. However, the next all-new Range Rover is likely to have other technologies designed to improve its on-road performance.



Insiders claim it will be around 500kg lighter than the current model, mainly due to its aluminium construction and other weight-saving technologies. It will also be correspondingly superior to drive, and use less fuel than the current car.

Spyshots: 2013 Range Rover in Dubai Desert

Land Rover is planning the release of a new version of their Range Rover. The SUV has been spotted numerous times over the past few weeks, we even came across the luxury 4×4 at the Land Rover workshop near the Nurburgring on Saturday.

One of our readers spotted two test mules of the 2013 Range Rover in the desert near Dubai, UAE. The two SUVs were accompanied by a current Range Rover Vogue.

The luxurious SUV will arrive next year with lower running costs, more space and an improved performance. The aluminium chassis will reduce the weight by a massive 500kg, resulting in a total weight of approximately 2,000kg. The powertrain will be revised as well, consisting of an 4.4 liter V8 diesel engine which offers 320 horsepower and a eight-speed automatic gearbox with stop-start system. Thanks to these upgrades, the fuel economy will be improved just as the emissions will be reduced.

The fourth generation Range Rover will also be available with a diesel powered V6 and a more impressive 5.0 liter supercharged V8. According to rumours, a hybrid is in the pipeline as well.

The design will remain essential the same, with a few changes. LED daytime running lights will be added to the new Range Rover. The edges of the car will be rounded off and the road presence will be increased. The interior will be more spacious and full of gadgets.

The new Range Rover will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next March. The SUV will hit the markets in the summer of 2012. The price tag is likely to increase.

New Range Rover Scheduled For 2012 Fall Launch

The next iteration of the Land Rover Range Rover will make its debut in fall 2012, and will wear styling inspired by that of the new Evoque. Autocar reports that compared to the current Range Rover (pictured above), the new fourth-generation SUV will lose as much as 990 pounds of mass.

Although the new Range Rover will grow slightly, using pressed aluminum construction is expected to trim curb weight. The SUV’s basic chassis and electrical architecture will be shared with the next-generation Jaguar XJ (Land Rover and Jaguar are owned by the same parent company, Tata Motors), but the chassis will get unique suspension mounts and bulkheads for use in the Range Rover. The chassis also will underpin the next Range Rover Sport.

The growth of the car means it will offer more interior space, primarily in the form of more rear-seat legroom. That also begets longer rear doors, enabling easier access to the SUV. Exterior styling cues will reflect the look of the Range Rover Evoque, with a steeply raked windshield and a sloped roofline, in comparison to the boxy and squared-off design of the current model. The interior is reportedly on target for Bentley-like quality and finish.

Engine choices are expected to mostly remain the same as in the current Range Rover: turbodiesel V-6 and V-8 engines, as well as naturally aspirated and supercharged gasoline V-8s. There also is a possibility of new V-6 and supercharged V-6 gasoline mills joining the lineup. In addition, there is a slim possibility that a plug-in hybrid drivetrain with a diesel or gasoline engine — previewed by the Range_e concept at this year’s Geneva Motor Show — will arrive at a later date.

Assuming all goes to plan, Autocar says the new Land Rover Range Rover will go on sale next fall.

AutoExpress's spies catch bigger, better luxury SUV on test – it will be lighter and greener, with an array of technology

The next Range Rover is shaping up. These are the latest spy shots of the all-new luxury SUV, which will arrive next year with lower running costs, more space and better performance.

It will take the fight to the Porsche Cayenne, and over the coming years will also have to compete with the Maserati Kubang and a new Bentley SUV. So Land Rover has improved the flagship in every way.

It’ll still be instantly recognizable as a Range Rover, though. Just look at the bluff front end with its wide chrome grille and the ‘floating’ glass area. To give it a more modern look, and increase road presence, the designers will round off the edges and add LED daytime running lights. Under the fresh body lies a new aluminium chassis that helps to shed 500kg – allowing the big 4x4 to tip the scales at around 2,000kg.

This weight reduction is combined with a revised power-train, consisting of an uprated 320bhp 4.4-litre diesel engine and a tweaked eight-speed automatic gearbox with stop-start. It all helps to dramatically cut the Range Rover’s emissions from 253g/km to less than 180g/km and bring average fuel economy up to 35mpg.

A diesel V6 is also planned, and if money is no object, you’ll be able to specify a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 as well. A mild hybrid using an electric motor attached to the gearbox is rumored, too.

Inside, rear seat passengers get more space, in response to some complaints that the current Range Rover isn’t roomy enough. 

There will also be plenty of gadgets, such as direct syncing of smart-phones, plus integration of devices like the iPad for rear-seat entertainment.

Expect the new model to be revealed at next March’s Geneva Motor Show, with sales starting in the summer. Prices are likely to increase, meaning the range will start from around £70,000.

Here are the latest spy shots of the upcoming 2013 Land Rover Range Rover caught testing in Germany.
Wearing less camouflage than the last time (Read: Scoop: 2013 Range Rover) we spied a next-generation Range Rover prototype, we can now better make out the overall shape of this model. We also get to see some details of the front fascia with features such as the air intakes on the front bumper.

The next-generation Land Rover flagship will be larger than the current Range Rover but will weight around 400 kg (881 lbs) less due to an aluminum chassis the automaker is developing in conjunction with Jaguar.

Range Rover has been spotted testing the upcoming Range Rover Vogue in hot weather in southern Europe. The new Range Rover is built on a new platform which will eventually be shared with the next-generation Range Rover Sport and Land Rover products.

 

Rumour has it the next-generation model will be built on a new platform based on the underpinnings of the Jaguar XJ. Various revisions are thought to have been made to it though to ensure great off-road capabilities are achieved. The new platform will comprise plenty of aluminium, which is said to help bring the overall weight of the large SUV down compared with the current model.

 

From the front, the details of this prototype are largely concealed, with a large bonnet cover capping off any contours and shapes and a similar front end cap concealing how rounded, or slab-like, the new face will look.

Earlier reports suggested the new Range Rover would take on a similar design language to the new Range Rover Evoque. Upon first inspection of these images, there doesn’t appear to be any standout resemblance. It’s not until you take a look at the rear where possible links can be found.

This test prototype does feature plenty of camouflaging and covering, but from the back it appears the new Range Rover will showcase a more sloped rear windscreen, rather than the current, almost vertical, rear pillars on offer today.

The new Range Rover is expected to come with a range of petrol and diesel engine options similar to the current line-up, albeit slightly revised. A new hybrid system is also on the cards.
Reports say the 2013 Range Rover will be unveiled sometime towards the end of next year. It’s then likely to go on sale in international markets in 2013.
