Range Rover Evoque launched in India at price of INR 44.75 Lakhs!

Tata owned Jaguar-Land Rover has just unwrapped the hotly anticipated Range Rover Evoque Crossover SUV for the Indian market, marking the SUV’s official launch in India. The Evoque will be pitted against the likes of the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5, although the Evoque’s price is significantly higher than these SUVs. The main reason for this is the fact that the Evoque will be brought into India as a completely built unit, straight from the Land Rover factory in Hailwood, UK, while both the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5 are assembled in India through completely knocked down(CKD) kits.

The higher price of the Range Rover Evoque SUV though might not deter prospective buyers from buying it as the sheer presence of the Evoque due to its radical styling dwarfs both the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5 quite comprehensively. The higher price will also mean that the Range Rover Evoque will be pitted against the Audi Q7, BMW X5, the Mercedes ML and the Volvo XC90. Even so, the Evoque’s imposing stance is what Jaguar-Land Rover will be banking on to bring in most of the sales even as CKD assembly of the Evoque is scheduled to happen in India, in the next 12 months or so.

Priced at a significant premium over the competition, the Evoque is Land Rover’s latest product and one which has seen extremely high demand from car markets across the world. So much so, that the Range Rover Evoque’s production is sold out for a full one year. Jaguar-Land Rover has however allotted a limited run of around 50 Evoques for the Indian market and it is from these cars that existing bookings will be serviced. Talking of which, JLR dealers in India report that the first lot has already been sold out through pre-bookings and the next lot of Range Rover Evoques will arrive only in 2012.

 The Evoque is built in two forms, three door and  five door versions, both of which will be available in India. The availability of the very sporty three door Evoque will give the SUV a significant competitive advantage  as the Evoque will be the only luxury SUV in India to be available in three door guise, thus carving out a very unique niche for itself. The three door variant of the Evoque will feature only the petrol engine while the five door version will be available with both petrol as well as diesel engine options.

Coming to the Range Rover Evoque’s engine range, the Crossover’s five door will be available with two engine options, one each in petrol and diesel fuel. The petrol engine is a 2 liter unit producing 240 Bhp of peak power and 340 Nm of peak torque.  This engine features turbocharging, direct injection and variable valve timing to ensure that it manages to stay frugal even as it delivers some blistering speed and acceleration. The diesel engine is a 2.2 Liter common rail, turbocharged unit capable of a peak power output of 190 Bhp and a peak torque output of 420 Nm.

Both engines are mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox while full time all wheel drive is standard across the Evoque SUV range. The Evoque SUV is available in three variants each, Pure, Prestige and Dynamic, for the petrol and diesel engines. Across the variants, safety features such as ABS, airbags, ESP, TCS and automatic hill hold are available as standard. Land Rover’s much acclaimed Terrain Response system, which essentially tweaks the electronic drive gadgetry on the SUV to suit various terrains is also a part of the package.

Range Rover Evoque to be launched in India on 18 November

Range Rover Evoque is on its way to India. Reliable sources in the industry, on the condition of anonymity have confirmed that Land Rover will be launching their lightest, smallest and the most efficient Range Rover variant, Evoque in India on the 18th of this month.

Evoque will be as exciting from the interior as it will be from the exterior. Its exterior offers a sporty new look based on the LRX concept car which appealed customers on a global level. Evoque's interiors too are worthy of mention. Range Rover Evoque has shining and more attractive switches and dials as compared to the higher priced models. Upholstered seats both in front and in passenger's cabin with an adjustable and comfortable driver's seat ensure that everyone has a comfortable drive.

Since the launch of Range Rover brand in 1970, there have hardly been any models launched by Land Rover that managed to create the kind of excitement Evoque has created amongst fans and auto enthusiast on a global platform. Range Rover Evoque launch on 4th of November

There have been a lot of talks about the Range Rover Evoque lately. It was earlier rumoured to come in next year, but the new stylish SUV from Land Rover will be launched in Mumbai on 4th November.

The Range Rover will be available with two engine options: 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol. The diesel will be available in three trim levels, viz. Pure, Dynamic and Prestige. The petrol will be available only in Dynamic trim. The Evoque will be placed a segment above the Freelander2 and the prices are likely to be between Rs 35-48lakh.

Range Rover Evoque first lot sold out in India!

Pre-bookings reveal that next round of bookings could only open early next year

EXCLUSIVE! Jaguar Land Rover's next big launch, the Range Rover Evoque has got off to a bumper start in India as dealerships across India have received several enquiries that have now turned into full-fledged bookings. Industry sources suggest that the first lot of cars have already been sold out and that bookings for the next lot will only commence early next year.

The Range Rover Evoque, set for launch in the first-half of November will be priced in the range of Rs 50 to 63 lakh, ex-showroom. Land Rover will offer both the petrol and diesel variants but with a twist. The 2.2-litre diesel producing 190 bhp is identical to the one found on the locally assembled Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE. The diesel version will be offered in the five-door format while the 2.0-litre turbo petrol producing 237 bhp will come as a three-door.

The Evoque will compete with the likes of the BMW X5/X6, Volvo XC90, the new Mercedes-Benz ML and Audi's Q7. Its distinctive styling and driver focus will be its key selling points. While the vehicle does compete with the likes of the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 in Europe, the pricing has been affected due to the fact that it will be offered as a CBU and the strong pound values are not helping it either.

Scoop: Range Rover Evoque in India

A junction on Paud Road in Pune leads to a very interesting place that is heaven for car spotters, the road to the hill on which the Automobile Research Association of India(ARAI) is situated. Every new car and motorcycle needs to undergo homologation at ARAI before it can begin commercial sales in India and thus, spotting cars at 8 AM in the morning, just as the ARAI gates open for testing is what many automobile enthusiasts like us indulge in.

 

Recently, an automobile enthusiast named Akshay Vaidya caught a camouflaged Range Rover Evoque at the ARAI-Paud Road junction in Pune. While the SUV was camouflaged, the very distinct shape of the SUV was a dead giveaway that the SUV caught on camera was indeed the Range Rover Evoque Crossover SUV. There has been a lot of talk about Tata Motors planning to launch this model at the end of this year and the ARAI homologation runs have only further added credence to this belief. Now we have further information coming in with a November launch for the Evoque confirmed.  Initially, the Range Rover Evoque Crossover will be brought into India through the CBU route, straight from Hailwood, UK.  A while later, in the middle of 2012, the Evoque Crossover SUV will be assembled in India through CKD kits at Tata Motors’-Mercedez Benz’s erstwhile production facility at Chikli, off Pune. Also, bookings for the Evoque are being accepted by some Jaguar-Land Rover dealers in India.

 

Initially the prices of the Range Rover Evoque are expected to be quite steep at INR 50 Lakhs for the base diesel model, going all the way up to around INR 63 Lakhs for the top end, three door 240 Bhp petrol variant. CKD assembly of the Evoque Crososver SUV is expected to help Tata owned Jaguar-Land Rover price the Evoque Crossover SUV at a competitive sub 40 Lakh Rupees. The Range Rover Evoque SUV is expected to be powered by a 2.2 Liter common rail turbo diesel engine good for 190 Bhp of peak power. The Crossover SUV will offer a  mix of car like handling and decent off road ability that the Land Rover brand has always been known for in a futuristically styled package, that will grab plenty of attention. Surprisingly, the test mule features a three door layout even though the Evoque is available in 5 door guise internationally which means that the Evoque could indeed be available in 3 door guise in India too.

2011 Range Rover Evoque Spotted in India :ICB

 

 Just yesterday, a right hand drive version of the Range Rover Evoque was spotted at the Tata Motors facility in Pimpri, near Pune. Now, this spotting has suddenly opened up the grapevine talk about the Evoque and we have some exclusive buzz on it. According to our reliable source, there was more than a few indications of the Evoque being readied up for an Indian launch sometime in 2011 as there seems to be a lot of buzz at Tata regarding the Evoque’s Indian arrival.

Coming to the crossover in itself, the Evoque began life as the LRX concept which culminated in the Evoque which is now available at British Land Rover dealerships. The Evoque is a gorgeous looking compact crossover that sits on massive 20 inch wheels that makes it the next big thing for all the pothole crawlers. The Evoque is also the most fuel efficient of the entire range of Land Rover SUVs as it brings two frugal yet powerful 2.2-litre turbo diesel engines, a 150PS TD4 and a 190PS SD4 mated to a six speed transmission both in manual and automatic guise.

Along with the diesels, UK customers can also specify their Evoque with a four pot, 2000cc turbo petrol pumping out 240 Bhp. but knowing Indian tastes, we’d probably be getting the diesels first along with the four door versions of the Evoque. Engines apart, the Evoque is packed with technology and safety features that include Terrain Response®, Hill Descent Control, Gradient Release Control, Hill Start Assist, Park Assist along with the usual Airbags, ABS and ESP which pretty much has become standard piece of kit on all cars north of INR 20 Lakhs.

So, if priced right the Evoque could be Land Rover’s bestselling answer to the BMW X3 and th Audi Q5s of the world as the hallowed Range Rover badge on the bonnet has much more snob value than the Beemers and Audis of this world. Range Rover Evoque in India by this year end

Range Rover fans have a reason to rejoice as Tata Motors plans to launch the latest Land Rover vehicle in India by the end of the year. The Range Rover Evoque is the smallest vehicle in the Land Rover line-up. The SUV will soon be on sale in Europe and USA and is available in both 3-door and 5-door versions. The Range Rover Evoque is the direct competitor for the BMW X1 and the upcoming Audi Q3. In India, we will be getting the 5-door model with a 2.2-liter diesel motor, which also does duty on the Jaguar XF internationally.


With local assembly already commenced by JLR in India, we can expect the Evoque to be locally assembled as well, giving Tata Motors a chance to price the car very competitively. The 2.2-liter turbocharged motor produces 150 PS and 190 PS (depending on the state of tune) and is very fuel efficient as well. A 2.0-liter, Si4 petrol engine is available too, which uses a turbocharger and twin variable valve timing, but it is highly unlikely we will get that version in India. Expect the Evoque to be priced around Rs. 30 lakhs, sitting right below the Freelander 2.
