Jaguar is planning the release of the XF Sportbrake at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Main competition will be the Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series Touring and the new upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake.

Professional artist Wild-Speed decided to render the Jaguar XF-R Sportbrake. Jaguar confirmed in July that they are working on a Jaguar XFR Sportbrake. The R version based on the 2012 Jaguar XF Sportbrake will be Jaguar’s answer to the Audi S6 Avant and Mercedes E63 AMG Estate. The XFR Estate will have the same 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine, that is good for 510hp, as the Jaguar XFR sedan.

Jaguar XF Sportbrake Wagon Spied In The Snow

Jaguar's upcoming XF wagon, dubbed Sportbrake, has been spied testing once more this week. As before, Jaguar remains open about the model's identity, using the extra real estate to advertise its name.

Whether the name will carry through to production is unclear, although it is likely that the final model will be known as the XF Sportbrake - in the same way BMW's wagons carry the Touring name, and Audi's wagons are badged Avant.

This is not the first time the Sportbrake has been spied on the road, and with cold weather testing now underway, a Frankfurt Motor Show unveiling in September looks promising.

Despite the swirly camouflage, it is clear that the XF wagon will combine the sleek lines of the traditional 'shooting brake' style with the familiar tapered roof of most 'sportwagons'.

As a result, the car will also offer the practicality and capacious rear space of a proper wagon.

The introduction of the Sportbrake will give the XF a much-needed rival for the wagon variants of its competitors, including the BMW 5 Series, the Audi A6 and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

The wagon will be especially welcome in Australia, where the XF's 550 sales in 2011 trailed the E-Class (1386), the 5 Series (1384) and the A6 (710).

2012 Jaguar XF Sportbrake spied yet again; Will be unveiled at Geneva Motor Show

Jaguar has already teased the XF Sportbrake, but here are the latest spy photos of the upcoming wagon.

Like the facelifted sedan, the model has a sporty appearance with a raising beltline and a sloping roofline. We can also see a tailgate-mounted spoiler, a dual exhaust system and an accommodating boot.

Engine options will likely carryover, so expect a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel with 163 PS (120 kW / 161 hp) and 190 PS (140 kW / 187 hp) as well as a 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 240 PS (177 kW / 237 hp) and 275 PS (202 kW / 271 hp). There should also be 5.0-liter V8 petrol which develops 385 PS (283 kW / 380 hp) and 515 Nm (380 lb-ft) of torque.

The XF Sportbrake could be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for full details.

Ok, maybe not officially unveiled, but this is as close as you can get without seeing the real thing.

Jaguar has been teasing their new XF Sportbrake for what seems like forever now. We have seen plenty of pictures of the front of the new car, however its rear has been kept under wraps tighter than security at an Iranian plutonium enrichment facility.

Topical humor aside, Jaguar has tweeted another teaser image of the Sportsbrake, however the guys at Theophiluschin decided that it was about time we saw the new estate in full. They clearly depict the rear in this rendering, using the XF sedan as inspiration.

In addition to several styling cues, the Sportsbrake will also make use the XF sedan's powertrains.The new Jaguar XF Sportsbrake will be officially unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Santa Delivers 2011 Christmas Presents in Jaguar XF Sportbrake?

The whole idea if testing a car in secret is to hide it from the world until it’s ready, but Jaguar seems to think its brand new estate model, the first since the X-Type, is so good that they can show it before it’s completely uncovered. They seemed to have already found a marketing strategy for it - something about balance, according to their dedicated Twitter account.

The car maker quietly tweeted a teaser photo of none other than Santa Claus loading up his presents into the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake wagon, presumably because the massive loss of Arctic sea ice has left him without enough pasture for the reindeer.

The Sportbrake is definitely more style than capacity oriented. If you want space you’ll need to go the E-Class Estate route, but for style the Sportbrake looks very promising. We’re expecting Jaguar to offer the new 2.2 Diesel XF, 3.0 litre diesel and a range topping XFR Sportbrake, but there won’t be a 4WD Sportbrake until Jaguar launch the new XF in 2014. And we probably won’t get the official meat of detail on the Sportbrake range until just before Geneva in Spring 2012.



It’s not the first time Jaguar has touted the new wagon on Twitter—the car actually has its own feed called @Sportbrake. Until then, you can be sure his won’t be the last of the ‘spy’ shots of the XF Sportbrake with a touch of camouflage round the back and the @sportbrake handle on the side.

Here's our first glimpse of Jaguar's second-ever estate car - the new 2012 Jag XF Sportbrake.

The Sportbrake name has been confirmed today, as our spies caught the XF estate on the roads testing around Jaguar's Coventry R&D base.

A wagon derivative of the XF was not in the original plan conceived on Ford's watch, so the product planners have had a considerable task to convert the four-door saloon into an executive estate.

These photos confirm that the XF estate is little longer than the saloon, yet bootspace is said to approach an Audi A6's. The Avant's loadbay is 565 litres.

Expect the usual fold-down rear seats, more rear headroom and executive toys such as electric boot operation.

More on Jaguar's XF estate

Underneath that slab-sided zebra disguise lies a trad XF style. It's only different from the B-pillars backwards, and our design sources suggest there's a sporty side glasshouse with a coupe graphic to counter the slightly taller roofline.

Peel away the disguise and you'll find what's bound to become the most-talked-about aspect of the new XF Sportbrake: a black stylised wraparound rear pillar.

What, like the XJ's bling-around black D-pillar?

Exactly. As revealed by CAR's artist's impression of the XF estate, it will echo the rear styling of the Jaguar XJ - it's a polycarbonate cover, a bit like on the Mini's A-pillars.

Expect to see the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake estate on sale later in 2012, when it will rival the BMW 5-series Touring, Audi A6 Avant and Mercedes E-class estate.
