Jaguar XFR-S is Closer to Production

The Jaguar XFR is one hot cat, and, if you asses it in isolation, it offers you everything you could possibly want from a go-fast sedan. However, it is not alone it the segment and its 510 hp are no longer able to face the competition coming from the 560 hp of the BMW M5 or the 557 hp of the Mercedes E63 AMG.

Jaguar XFR

Jaguar isn’t just willing to sit around and let its super-saloon be devoured by the Germans, with the company now set to create a hotter XFR-S version. A Jaguar source told autocar that the company is willing to give the XFR the same treatment offered to the XKR-S, confirming previous rumors.

Thus, the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 should be boosted to 550 hp, while the rest of the tech bits will also be upgraded. In addition to that, the XFR-S will also get more aggressive styling that will allow it to easily be distinguished.

Spy Shots: 2014 Jaguar XFR-S : Speedlux

This year, at Geneva Motor Show, Jaguar XKR-S stirred the crowd managing to lead to good remarks from the public. After this succes, the British luxury car manufacturer confirmed the XF sports sedan will also receive the same treatment. We’ll we have the very first photos of this new model, in a very incipient form.
At a glance this might seem a standard Jaguar XFR, but we believe that is actually a mule for the XFR-S version of the XF. Of course, it’s still missing the special body parts that the XFR-S probably will have, but, if you’re if you’re paying enough attention, you’ll see that the track looks slightly wider and it’s sporting the same wheels as the XKR-S already.

Beside this, other things that make us suspicious are the fact that, according to spy photographer who managed to take this shots, this mule is testing together with the XKR-S Convertible prototype. In addition, as expected, around Jaguar’s test center close to the Nürburgring are plenty of normal XFR driving, but this car succeded to surprise CarPix’ photographer with its unique sound.

While Jaguar offered no details on the future RS package for the XF sedan we will surely like driving a XF with 550 HP under the hood and featuring an impressive aerodynamic package.

Finally, Adrian Hallmark, Jaguars global brand director, has confirmed that Jaguar are working on a project to transfer the XKR-S upgrades to the XFR as well. If it’s so, then the new Jaguar will become a rough competitor for many supercars like the Audi RS6, the BMW M5 and the Mercedes E63 AMG.
As for the prices, is much to early to talk about this, but expect the new model to be priced around $70-80,000.
