In this video MotorTrend gets behind the wheel of the 2012 Range Rover Evoque, the coupe version, and like other first tests, they want to investigate if the excessive sportiness and urban appeal of the baby Rangie mean that it’s useless off the road. 2012 Jaguar Range on sale

Jaguar XKR-S

1st September 2011 marks the day that the fastest and most efficiency Jaguar range ever created goes on sale.

The new Jaguar XF 2.2 can travel a distance of more than 800 miles on a single tank of diesel, with emissions of 149g/km. At the other end of the spectrum is the Jaguar XKR-S offering 0-100mph acceleration in 8.7 seconds on to an electronically limited top speed of 186mph.

The Jaguar XF features extensive alterations, such as to the bonnet, front and rear lights and bumpers and front wings, whilst the interior sees improvements to the switchgear, navigation system and seats.

The Jaguar XK has also seen a number of changes, including a new, larger front grille, with slim new headlight units, new horizontal front wing vents, new wheel designs and changes to the rear lights. Bucket seats are available for the first time. Comfort and refinement have been improved through the use of new trim finishes.

For the Jaguar XJ, a rear seat comfort option pack in now available offering reclining seats, four way adjustment for the lower back, a massage feature, footrests and winged headrests.

Jaguar XF named "Car of the decade" by AutoExpress

Jaguar XF - Car of the decade

The Jaguar XF has been announced as Auto Express Driver Power 'Car of the Decade'. Over a period of 10 years readers of Auto Express have been invited to participate in the Driver Power survey and evaluate the car they own.  The detailed survey encompassed many aspects of vehicle ownership - from reliability to dealer performance, to design, handling and ease of use.

In that time over 300,000 readers participated with hundreds of individual cars being tested. The Jaguar XF emerged as Number One. Acting Editor of Auto Express, Graham Hope, presented Dr. Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover and Andrew Whyman, Chief Programme Engineer, XF, with the Award in front of staff at the Castle Bromwich Factory.

Also present to accept the Award was Andy Whyman, Chief Programme Engineer.  Gathered at the presentation were technicians from the Castle Bromwich product line as well as the very first XF ever produced sitting alongside a new XF, fresh off the line.

Since 2008 over 37,000 examples of the XF have been sold in the UK.  A relentless programme of engineering improvements have meant that the XF has remained highly competitive in its class.  On September 1 the most efficient XF yet, the new 2.2-litre Diesel model, will go on-sale.  Capable of travelling in excess of 800-miles on a single tank of diesel and emitting 149 g/km of CO2, the XF 2.2 combines economy with the performance, refinement and dynamic ability expected of a modern Jaguar.  Like the rest of the XF range it benefits from a series of aesthetic changes both inside and out to lend it a fresh, elegant new look.

Land Rover to unveil Defender concept (DC100) in Frankfurt

Land Rover will unveil the DC100, the concept car for its replacement of the iconic Defender four-by-four, at next month's Frankfurt auto show. It's the latest sign that JLR is ramping up its £5-billion investment drive across the two brands.

Production of the re-designed “Defender for the 21st century” is set for 2015, the company said as it unveiled images of the concept car for the first time.

Over the past few months, JLR, which is targeting 40 product actions in the next five years, spending £1 billion during each of those years, has released a number of new and updated vehicles.

This includes the Range Rover Evoque, which goes on sale in September, and the launch of a four-cylinder diesel version of the XF. It has also announced production dates for its C-X75, a hybrid supercar.

 

Heart of the brand

Analysts believe the latest announcement is one of the most significant steps it has taken to date. 

“The Defender is at the heart of the brand,” said Mr Tim Urquhart, an auto analyst at IHS Global Insight in London.

Though the Defender itself was launched in the 1980s, it dates back to 1948, when the original Land Rover series was launched, since when around 2 million vehicles have been sold.

“It simply has to be done in the right way encapsulating the values of the previous vehicle: being: tough, rugged and reliable and able to go everywhere,” Mr Urquhart added.

The company's description of the concept car as “functional and purposeful” suggests that this will remain key to the new design.

“Replacing the iconic Defender is one of the biggest challenges in the automotive design world,” said Mr Gerry McGovern, the director of design at Land Rover.

Jaguar Land Rover has come to represent an increasingly significant part of Tata Motors: though in the quarter ending June income after tax fell by 10 per cent year-on-year to £220 million.

Tata Motors hired SBI to Raise $500 Million Loan From Banks

Tata Motors Ltd. (TTMT), the Indian owner of Jaguar Land Rover, hired State Bank of India to help it borrow $500 million in a term loan, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The two-part facility consists of a $200 million portion which matures in five years and a $300 million portion which matures in seven, the person said, asking not to be identified as details are private.

Lenders committing $20 million or more to the five-year loan will receive margin and fees for a so-called all-in payment of 260 basis points more than the London interbank offered rate while those contributing that amount or more to the seven-year facility will receive a rate of 280 basis points more than Libor, the person said. Tata Motors will use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, the person said.

Meetings to market the loan to other lenders will be held in Taipei on Sept. 5, Singapore on Sept. 6 and London on Sept. 21, the person said. Other meetings may also be arranged in Dubai, the person said.

State Bank of India (SBIN) expects to complete syndication in mid October and Tata Motors will likely sign the loan later that month, the person said.
